Amazing but I am beginning to feel that Brian Cox is the only one that can do enthusiasm without sounding patronising on it feeling like it is being staged.

PLEASE TREAT ME LIKE AN ADULT

Bigvern, none of the people on these message boards have any connection with the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ. The boards are hosted by the Beeb for people to discuss topics of mutual interest.

I do agree with you about the dumbing down, though. This desire to appeal to as many people as possible is having dire results. In the early days of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ2 it was assumed that anyone wishing to watch a factual programme had the brains to understand it.

To be fair, this was a Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ1 programme at 8.30pm so perhaps aimed at a family audience which may explain the overwrought, gee whiz style presentation. Sadly, this meant that the wider applications of the method in other ground conditions were not explored nor were the images analysed in any detail.
The commentary was dreadfully confused at times and managed to give the impression that the Step pyramid was younger than those at Giza by not clearly differentiating between it and the later, postulated ones at Saqqara but at least it was a prime time programme that did not involve viewers' votes and gave us what may be our last chance to see Indiana Hawass in full flow outwith the dock.
Perhaps Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ4 will tackle the topic sometime without CGI erupting pyramids and anyone saying 'wow' or 'amazing'.

    Agreed,
And, perhaps, too, we can have some more in-depth analysis of some other periods of Egyptian History. I know the DynIII and IV periods are amazing, as are the Amarna and early Rammeside, but last night gave a tantalising glimps of the early Second , and Third Intermediate Period. The latter, parhaps bacause the Egyptologist was French,( Montet) and the time ( pre WWII), has been sadly ignored by programme makers.
Let's have something on these Egyptian 'Dark Ages'
