Anyone interested in the Gobekli Tepe thread might like to read the recent article in National Geographic. I'm not sure about the title but then I don't hold to Edward Burnett Tyler's ideas of progression.

Other than that I thought I'd highlight a couple of other sites that straddle the Mesolithic Neolithic transition in the Fertile crescent. Firstly there is Tell Qaramel in Northern Syria where a Polish team of archaeologists under Ruszard Mazurowski uncovered a series of towers with the earliest phases predating the structure found at Jericho. Interestingly, it appears the the first tower constructed on the site was partially sunk into the ground.

Bill Finlayson and Steve Mithin have published their latest findings from their long term excavation at at Wadi Faynan in Southern Jordan that adds to the idea that there was substantial investment in communal structures without any seemingly permanent domesticated dwellings.

There is also a nice article from Current Anthropology outlining the current state of understanding about the distribution of the various grains that became the domesticated staples of the Neolithic as well as what changes they underwent during the process of domestication.

Oh another report on Tell Qaramel that I managed to misplace. I'm not sure how, it is digital so it is not as if I could lose it under a pile of papers.

    lol,

thank you very much for the links. I have no time for the moment, but I mentioned already the Geographical link to Mitra on the French Passion Histoire. See the links in my message 8 to Stanilic and to you in the old thread of Göbleki Tepe.
In the two French threads that I mentioned to Stanilic, there are many English language links that you can read.

See you again in some days.

Kind regards and with great esteem,

    Paul.
