I am a member of a history forum, whose admin stated that he received a reply from Michael a year ago, saying that due to the original series being shot on 16mm, and other considerations, the series wouldn't be released on dvd etc.
They can be found on Youtube though

Not that this matters much,
But the Issue on TROY should be reshot because since 1967
we know a lot more on Troy's location.
Mr/Sir Michael's historic research Staf under a man named Lions, reported that Troy was the 6th or 7th City-Layer in a stack of 10 City layers
Schliemann's Troy was situated, immersed, under the freshwater table.
In Troy's heydays the Palace was about 30 meters higer than the then sealevel
the Walls of troy supposedly buit by aid of Poseidon were Riverdunes from the silt of the River SEHAN.
Since the Eustatic sealevel rose a mere 50 meters since Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔr's Troy
it would not be hard to equate the Citylayer that's now 20 meters under the present Sealevel as the " Original" city level of Troy.
Despite his doctor's degree in ancient Greek, Dr Schliemann ignored or expressly overlooked the simple fact that Troy after it's burning was sacked and left derelict.
the surviving inhabitants mannaged to board ships that took each party to FIVE more " Troy-like new foundationsettlements" of which TRUVA at the Dardanelles were just one and NOT the original.
By looking-up that overlooked Rivename of SEHAN it revealled to me,
that the Rivers SARUS & PYRAMUS in Persian times originally were named SEYHAN or CEYON.
This drives me to the conclusion that the City Mount of TARSUS 20 meters deep under the present mean Sealevel should be the original site of the original Troy. But I doubt If ant historian would see fit to investigate my assumption, in any near future.

Yes, I've been reliving my youth watching these video clips.
Not that it matters, but I suspect that the soundtrack has been edited in order to cut out Claire Hamill's music, which was used as one of the themes in the original series:
Alan Hawkshaw's music for the film The Silent Witness still makes me shiver:
