Areni Cave Armenia near the Iranian border yielded a well preserved size 4 woman's cured cowhide shoe,
with thong laces [ca 3445bc+/- 40a,cal] and numerous other artifacts. This type of shoe was worn for millennia in Europe.Sandals at the cave of the Warrior indicates that there was more than one type of footwear during the 4th millennium bc.Three sub-
adult skulls in clay pots date to ca 4200bc +/- 40a cal [R Pinhasi,2010].

Charming! I make a guess that this is winterwear. Armenia is a mountainous land which in winter has low temperatures. Though nobody can tell, this shoe is most probably of a woman or a teenager and judging from its shape it could be actually used in combination with some kind of warm socks. I guess for the summer they would use sandals or... barefoot which is easier to make (made... by birth!) and more comfortable to wear (or not!) in hot weather.

The socalled SILAUNEN ICE Man of Austrian Alps
who also yielded Holocene footware, may have been a hoax

IN THE NEARBY " KAPUZINER KLOiSTER-GRUFT ARE SIMILAR PRESERVED MUMMIFICATED BODIES.

But no researcher has yet made a comparision with the deseccated bodies of the Kapuziner monks and the deseccated body of the Itakian- ICE- man found in 2005.
