A mass grave, thought to be associated with the Claudian Invasion of Britain, has been found near Maiden Castle:
Thoughts?
Fascinating, AN. I do hope sufficient time is allowed for proper site excavation by experts for accurate dating and study. Did the Romans go in for beheading? Would the clan holding out strip captives and then behead them?

The link didn't work. After any big battle I suppose there must have been massive communal graves for all dead bodies rather than having them stinking up the place, attracting millions of flies and being a local cause of diseases and illnesses.
Were the bodies burnt first?

Just a quick update - apparently the bodies have now been carbon dated to AD890-1030. So much for the Romans!
