Those who entered it, did they know what it is, and from where that smell came from?
I've heard of no reports of smells other than that William Flinders Petrie found the odor in the grotto area to be so offensive that he had to ask to be pulled back up to the base of the grand gallery.
I believe this was caused by the vast amount of organic material (mainly fish) which had accumulated in this region for centuries. The water table likely rose and fell and often emitted gasses from the stagnant water into this section which had very little ventilation. Such odors can even be absorbed by rock given enough time.

Hi cladking, I mean the odor inside the great pyramid now, and it is not the odor of the stones. If you entered the great pyramid, you can smell it, at the entrance of the so-called the King's chamber, i.e., at the central axis of the pyramid. That odor diminishes as you go far from that point.
i just remember a very musty smell, The only offensive thing I smelt was peoples' BO

The odor inside the great pyramid is not perfume; it is the odor of life beings, but not human beings.
In recent years the sewage from nearby Cairo has been undermiming the area. Is it this you have smelled?

I know that the title of this thread may be strange, and some may think that I am joking. I am not joking; the answer is very interesting. But I hope, before telling you the whole story, to find someone who noticed it too.
I'm not joking about the sewage, it is a major problem, but back to the question. Maybe you wont find anyone so why dont you just tell us what is was you smelled?

The odor at the the axis of the great pyramid is that of a living Scarab, despite you do not see any one flying or walking there. I will tell you how I noticed that in another message.
First Fox the Teacher (must try not to laugh) and now Hossam the Mysterious.
What is it with all these people with "important" information that can only speak in semi-literate riddles (and that is not a slight on their English by the way) and "that is for another post".
If you have earth shattering information, tell us, if not then don't. All this "patience my young padawan" stuff is more than a little twiee

Richie the follower: Musty talk generates musty odor and reveals the ruin quality of the mortal body and the evil quality of its immortal.
Well at least you have a sense of humour

It seems that your are kid, and this talk is far beyond your understanding. This thread is not for kids.
In which case Hossam I take back the "you have a sense of humour" compliment. I think you will find that egyptology is not far beyond my understanding in the slightest. Wild pseduo-scientific/fantasy constructions might well push my abilities to "follow", but sound historical facts are not. So far you have yet to show any comprehension or understanding of this subject yourself, and I am eager in the anticipation of rampant disapointment concerning your next posting on the this subject
Richie,
I back your view.
Warm regards,
Paul.
Hossam, not for kids, you may be right, you wanna be on Caro's goat domestication thread.
Hiya Paul
Cheers, I always look at any thread with regards Egypt as I have a love and fascination with the subject, but that doesn't mean I am going to back all the fantasies out there
Rich

Lolbeeble, if you are playing, or trying to play, the role of a moderator, take into your consideration that both your performance and productivity in the threads of high-order thoughts (on architectonics) is nearly zero; you are not able to understand, control, steer, motivate, or liberalize the thoughts. On the contrary, you are polluting the thread with your impolite talk. In this particular thread, you did not even think about, are there any relation between the sacred Egyptian Scarab and the pyramids? This is the core entry point here, and as usual you were not able to see it, and responded, in a naive way to another sided talk. Nordmann is far more knowledgeable than you in dealing with these things. When he proposes a counter argument, even if it is outside the domain of the subject, he is doing it based on very specific, tricky somehow, but very solid agenda. So I suggest if you don’t have that ability, do not participate in my thread(s), but if you enquired about any ambiguous thought, I will answer you.
Come off it you daft quack, one of us has achieved their very limited aim of winding up an overly earnest pseud while the other has to resort to calling people kids and suggesting their argument is so subtle it can only be discussed by the initiated. Presumably that would be why you have been trawling the web posting the same ramblings on every Englsih language history message board you could find. Of course they were polite enough just to treat you like the fool you are and ignore you. You wanna make some allusion about a smell in the centre of the pyramids being related to the scarab beetle because of their association with the cycle of the sun. However you will not just come out and say that otherwise it might reveal how little you have to say. Mind you as they are dung beetles I'm going with Generallobus on this one.

lolbeebl, you did successfuly prove without any doubt what I have said about you, in my last message. Besides, there is no relation between scarab beetle and the cycle of the sun, it was sacred due to other reason. Can you tell us what it is? you can consult any body, take your time.
