I am just reading 'Anglo-Norman England 1066 to 1166' by Marjorie Chibnall. In it is a map for England at the end of 1065 showing an earldom to the north of Morcar under the rule of Oswulf. I assume this is the territory of 'English Northumbria'.
Anyone know anything about it; what Oswulf did in 1066 and what happened to him?

Oswulf of Bamburgh was earl north of the Tees and was subservient in 1065 to Morcar, appointed by Edward the Confessor to the earldom of York in his 'peacekeeping reshuffle' following Tostig's exile.
Thanks for the information Nordmann
But what happened to him and did he fight at Gate Fulford or Stamford Bridge; I assume not at Senlac.

Not sure which battle or battles he fought at. He managed to survive the conquest through astute side switching and timely lying low so perhaps none at all. It seemed to pay off but a year later his increasing desire to regain the old family earldom of all of Northumbria backfired on him somewhat. He had William's appointed earl Copsi murdered and claimed the earldom for himself, calculating that the politics of the situation and the strength of his own armed support prevented William from engaging him militarily. He was right, so William simply had him assassinated instead - history says by a 'brigand', we'd say by a 'contract killer'. The whole shebang was given to his cousin Cospatric eventually, but not until Cospatric had paid quite a hefty sum for the earldom.

Thanks Nordmann, I think some of the above must figure in the book 'Bloodfued' that I read a while ago.

Further to subject of the battles of 1066; I would assume that he would have summoned by Morcar to Gate Fulford but might not have arrived in time. It would seem unlikely that he would have taken part at Stamford and given that neither Edwin or Morcar were at Senlac it would seem unlikey that Oswulf would have been there either.
