Hi, me again.
Along the same lines as the Julio-Claudian thread, does anyone know of a good biography of Constantine?
Cheers in advance.
there is loads on Constantine the Great, to be honest im not sure of any work that springs to mind. library and amazon are my best bets, all so i live near where he was proclaimed Ceaser by his troops! i have many a time walked past his staute, you should vist York, good book shops etc...
If a visit to York is possible you will be delighted in the exhibition 'Constantine the Great; York's Roman Emperor' in the Yorkshire Museum until October. It's not a biography exactly, but the catalogue accompanying the exhibition told me all I wanted to know about Constantine.
The material culture on display is outstanding. It is worth a trip to see the Trapain Law and Water Newton silver hoards on display together. The BM have provided many items and there is also that unique silver mirror from Shrewsbury Museum. Not to be missed.
