Can anyone tell me who was the last Roman Emperor to be buried in Britain?
Septimus Severus (reigned 193-211)died in York, but I don't know if he was buried in Britain. Constantius Chlorus (reigned 305-6, father of Constantine I the Great), also died in York. I have no idea what their funeral arrangements were.
Thanks for your help.
Septimus Severus - According to Dio Cassius - was burnt on a funeral pyre here, but his bones then placed in an urn and taken to Rome. So I suppose there's a bit of him here and a bit of him there...

Hi Marduk,
Just think how much the legionnaires cried who were standing on the wrong side of the funeral pyre - barbecued Roman emperor in the eyes is worse than chopped onion...
