I like to run with scissors,
An iguana is a lizard,
And we all love Eddie Izzard,
No more words to rhyme with scissors.
Found this little ditty
Hurrah, I'm right!
Eliza
Still thinking about purple. Myrtle is good. What a terrible name for a girl.
"puerperal" gets near enough for doggerel or limericks, though - or even "pupil" etc. at a pinch.

There was an American soft drink called Burple when I was there. Americans (who else) also refer to maple syrup sometimes as surple.
On this side of the pond the nearest I could find to a rhyme for purple was courtesy of that much admired and late lamented virtuoso ensemble The Wurzels who sang a song (at least it is defined as a song by their record company) called Wurple-diddle-i-do.
Pardon me for querying this - but how can myrtle rhyme with purple - unless my pronouncation of myrtle is somewhat unique....in which case please accept my humble apologies.....

Ooh, you're making me nervous now!
I pronounce the two (and please forgive me this, as I'm unsure how to write phoenetics properly)
purple = purr-pul
myrtle = murr-tul.
Am I wrong?

Wrong? No, merely assonant, as any bad poet will tell you!
No we don't all love Eddie Izzard. I'd like to run scissors through his gizzards.
