hi. my interest for ancient rome has just started, can anyone recommend any good books on roman history? thanks
Read Rubicon
How detailed a history do you want???
Proper history books could include...
The Roman Republic - M.Crawford
From the Gracchi to Nero - H.Scullard
Oxford Classical Dictionary
The Grand Strategy of the Roman Empire - E.Luttwak
The Roman Empire - C.Wells
and so on.. there are thousands of the wotsits...
or what about the primary sources... Virgil's Aeneid & Georgics, Livy , Cato, Cicero, Ovid, Martial, Catullus
It's a vast subjust... narrow down what you want to learn about.. Read some general books and then look at the sources.
