Hey i haven't been on here long and all i wanted to do was talk about the Ancients, but every time i put a comment somebody will tred me back down. We actually know very little about Ancient civilisations, most is theory, not one idea can be wrong as long as you have evidence. I'm sorry if ive offended anyone especially E. Nik. (sorry cant remember your full name) i just wanted to put my points across, i may not have my degree right now, or for another few years but i have studied Egypt(no joke) since i could read, it is my passion, Greeks being my second favourite civilisation, i was just trying to add my comment. And agian...sorry.

Very Good, now I was discussing the brilliance of the Egyptians a few days ago, with their building and idols etc and as you have studied them for a while I was interested in why they didn't advance to building steam engines or electricy? (or maybe they did?)

    Hi Ankhesenamun,

I wouldn't be too concerned about having differences in opinion on here, everyone gets things wrong from time to time, so don't worry about it, and keep on posting!
With regards to Nik, I wouldn't be too concerned again about disagreeing with him, and I would doubt that you would cause any offence, he doesn't take things personally (believe me, we have thrown a few insults at each other in previous posts, but can still have a civilised debate and even (shock horror) agree on some subjects too! We all have different views, and the board would be really boring if we all agreed! I have read your posts on Egypt (my knowledge on the subject isn't good), and I find your posts interesting and informative, and your level of knowledge on the subject is commendable, so keep on posting, and don't worry if you find yourself disagreeing with someone. You'll win some and lose some, but every time you lose one, you'll learn something new!

    Best wishes
    DL

    Very true DL, thank you.

The Egyptians were advanced for their times but not that advanced, they were more architects than scientists, most of the population were craftsmen, they were however advanced in medicine and the human body, they could even carry out successful operations. The resources just weren't available to the Ancients, mixing steel with aliminium and so forth, there knowledge did not extend that far.

I'd just like to echo what DL said. Keep on posting. As long as you are prepared to back up opinions with rational argument, nobody can really take offence.
