EGYPT Questions

  Hi,
  
  I'm new here and decided to drop by having watched the excellent EGYPT series on Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ over the past 6 weeks. I was lucky enough to visit Egypt back in 1995 and see the wonders of Luxor and Cairo. Watching the series really raised my awareness of the importance of Belzoni and Champollion. I was aware of both of them before, but did not realise the extent of their contribution to the history of Egypt.
  
  I have 2 questions that I'd like to put here:
  
  1) Are there any plans to release the series on DVD?
  
  2) Back in the early to mid nineties, a mechanical robot UPUATT was sent into the shafts of the pyramid by a German engineer (Rudoplh Gantenbrink I think) and discovered a small door at the end of one of the shafts. Has anything happened since? Have any investigations been carried out to see what is beyond the door?

  I vaguely remember seeing a picture of the door you mention in a book by Robert Bauval. There was what appeared to be a 'stick' of some kind just in front of the door. It made worldwide news, and it caused a lot of excitement at the time, but I really don't know what the outcome was. I've been drifting around the internet trying to follow it up, but without much success. There was also mention of another chamber below what had been previously thought to be the lowest chamber, and another below, or very near to the Sphinx.
  Its very frustrating not knowing if any further investigation has been carried out. Maybe it's an ongoing thing and nothing has been made public yet. Sorry I couldn't be more helpful, but hopefully someone out there may know a little more.

  I can answer question 1: a DVD set of the EGYPT series is planned for February. I enjoyed it very much too and will definitely be buying a copy.

  with regards to the blocked off star tunnel there are plans to send another robot down/up to break through the plug, but when and where the results would be/are I'm not sure

  i belive that the star tunnel door that your talking about could be a shaft from the burial chamber. after all, records do show that there was a similar type of shaft that led from the chamber through the casings of the pyramid. this supposedly let the pharaoh soul travel from his body to the heavens.
  well, thats what i think is behind the door, but i cant explain why the door is there.. tis truly vexing

  thats very possible, but if the egyptians wanted to get the soul out, why put a door there? surely if they thought i could get through a door they may have thought that it could get throught the pyramid wall, so put a door there?
  i think it may have been tomb robbers, they went in, only found a body and went out again, placing the door after them.
