I've done Sedgeford (Norfolk) for a couple of years: most enjoyable, middle Saxon cemetary and settlement with some Roman and prehistoric as well. It's also one of the cheapest digs around (c.Β£150 per week for camping, food, insurance et al).

ditto to the Sedgeford experience, Ive got the brochure for next year and after enjoying it so much this year I want to do it again. All you pay for is camping and any courses you take and the food is included. It isnt that bad either the food.
