It is dissapointing there is no board to discuss this huge subject. It is so particularly relevant to today in respect of relegion and its development.
Watching the brilliant performance by Paul Scofield in the film " A Man For All Seasons" today, I was wondering how accurate Robert Bolts Screenplay was in relation to the true events. Were the lackies around the then Monarch Henry V111 willing to allow him to do whatever he wished with regard to marriage. I also find events today with the current Prince of Wales and next Monarch marrying a divorcee making one think nothing much has changed when it comes to Royal perogative. They are just as bad today as in the 16th Century.

Sorry, but this is off topic; and, by the way, I like Camilla.
Well at least prince charles has only had two wives unlike henry VIIIth who had 8 wives. I suppose there's still time for henry to catch up.
If you google Praemunire, as I did, quite recently, you find a fascinating letter and documents from the Lord Chanceller in l955 discussing whether Princess Margeret's intention to marry the divorced Captain Townsend constituted praemunire! Really brought home just how big an issue divorce was for the royals.

Maybe it was Henry VI who had VIII wives?
"Henry VIII came eighth and had eight wives. His beard, however, was red." (1066 And All That).
Given recent events and the continued enthusiasm of Prince William for monarchy it might be better NOT to discuss it.
