Looking up the Latin word for cauldron, I found "Cortina"... which, apparently, was also the word for the "Tripod of Apollo".
Er, what's the "Tripod of Apollo"?
A really c*** old chariot?
Tripod, what you rest the cauldren over the fire with. Think of your science lessons and what you would rest vessels over a bunsen flame.
Tripod for Appollo would seem to be a prize for poetry however given the deities status as a poet himself and the traditional prize of tripods in panhellenic competitions.
Course it might not be its just Hesiod won a tripod at Delphi. Think thats the Phoebi Cortina, or the cauldron of Apollo where the Oracles went to seek answers from the God. Virgil is referring to the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔric name Phoebus Appollo.
