Probably, but there again, perhaps not.

No such thing as a silly question, but there can be unclear ones. I'm not exactly sure this one is clear. Does it mean what percentage of digs are at pre-historic sites? How is pre-history defined?
Not that I can help, anyway, I'm afraid.

Perhaps it's what percentage of previous posters have left the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ History messageboards recently...?

Tis not so much a silly question as a very unclear one. What d'ya mean?
lol @ Stoggler though, if it refered to the christian boards it'd be a high answer.
I liked it when we has more boards, ach i'll get used to it =)

it is not entirely a silly question but then you have to define what is prehistory:
With the word 'history' we defined originally those time eras for which we have written records on the contemporary political/social national/international events. Prehistory is all the time area behing that. Thus for Egypt and Middle East history starts around 3rd-2nd millenia BC for Greece 1st millenia etc but for Western Europe it starts around late Roman times not to mention late Middle Ages. I.e. what is history-prehistory depends on geographical factors (i.e. where we founf what... for example if we find in Sweden a written text dating in 3000 BC describing contemporary events then the 'historic era' of Scandinavia will 'push' the prehistoric back at those times).
Of course later the term history is used in a different meaning: the mere discovery of a written text that is desciphered (i.e. so we know what it says) and no matter if that is a list of olive oil varieties is sufficient to call an era 'historic'. Not to mention that nowdays most commonly the mere presence of written texts even if undeciphered is enough to push back the boundaries of history into prehistory.
In any of the above cases in the minds of archaiologists - their area of study commences from roughly 6,000-7,000 BC (especially when talking about Egypt or Middle east) but then these boundaries are being pushed continuously back - for example the recent discovery of a very large city (more than 100,000 people - implying the existence of a sanitary system) in northern India that dated around 9,000 BC or even more means that this is a job for archaiologists and not for palaiontologist whose area of study is the primitive human spieces and primitive Homo Sapiens.
While not appropriate to talk about % ... if we talk about time eras then 90% of archaioloy is actually on prehistory but if we talk about actual findings (i.e. in quantities) then 90% falls within the eras of history: In Greece that I know, every year when farmers dig the land keep finding ancient objects like coins fragments of stuatues (they must exist underneath millions if not billions of ancient roman and byzantine objects)... more rarely they will find a prehistoric tool or things like this (usually they are deeper then these are not so easily recognisable!)
