  i am currentlyapplying to uni and i am vary interested in ancient history and hope to do a degree in it. i am therefore trying to readasmany articles by highly regarded hisorians as waswonderingifanybody could recommend anyone!

  Im currently studying for a degree in Ancient History. Have you tried looking on the department websites for the universities your interested in? These often have various reading lists on them.
  
  If this is merely reading to show your interested for an interview, I would say just read one or two books. It would be far more productive to spend your time working towards your A-level's and then doing the massive reading blitz when your exams in June are out the way.
  
  Anyway, it depends what aspects or parts of ancient history you are interested in. Do you prefer the: Romans, Greeks or the near east? You more interested in the military aspects or Socail, cultural and political?
