440 (1st Manx) Squadron

  I am looking for any information on 440 (1st Manx) Squadron and particulary its activities during WWII.
  
  I believe that this was a training squadron probably based at Jurby or Andrea but I have not been able to find any records.
  
  I have been onto the Squadrons present day website but it lacks any information pre-1970.
  
  My grandfather appears to have been a cadet within the Squadron and I would love to know more about the types of aircraft he would have been exposed to.

  As no one has come forward with information, I suggest that you join this online forum
  It's free, you just have to register. Then click on 'Forum' and scroll down until you come to the 'Special Interests' section where you will find 'Armed Forces'
  There are some amazingly knowledgeable people on there, so you may well get help.

  The "Main Category" forum on this website is a very good source of expertise about the RAF, I would try asking there.
  
  
  
  Probably no help to you but there are a couple of excellent PDF files about ANDREA and JURBY, they were available for download from the Manx Heritage Foundation website but they stopped working then disappeared. Requests for their reinstatement on the website fell on deaf ears.

  Managed to find my copy of Action Stations 3.
  
  I can't see any mention of 440 Squadron under Andreas or Jurby.
