Can anyone point me towards a book or anything else with a detailed account of the Battle of Ginchy in September 1916?Something a bit beyond the average internet article? This is where my great-uncle died, with the 7th Battalion, Royal Irish Rifles.
Thanks

Not much help perhaps but I see that Lyn Macdonald's "Somme" (Penguin history) has a dozen or so pages that looks like dealing with Ginchy.. I have it -so far unread- on my bookshelves.

Hi
Gary Sheffield's book 'The Somme' is a good modern single battle account that covers the different areas and sub-battles of the Somme but doesnt mention every unit.
Terence Denham's 'Ireland's Unknown Soldiers' - A divisional history of the 16th(Irish) Division in whose 48th Brigade the 7th RIR were.
'History of the First Seven Battalions: The Royal Irish Rifles (now the Royal Ulster Rifles) in the Great War' by Cyril Falls.
Thanks to the two of you - very much obliged. I'll follow up on your various suggestions.
