    Adnil,

    There is a WA Nelson from Hull on the CWGC site,but he is listed as being killed on the trawler Lord Stamp in 1940;

    Have you got or can you get his servise number, ( you can find this in any of his sevice papers you might have or around the edge of any of his medels) With this and /or as much info as you can about him apply for his service record and it should say what boat he was on when he died ( Sub are Boats not Ships)smiley - biggrin You will have to go throu the records office to find out how to go about this.
    Any other info on his service life you can post here will help us look for you.

    Have a look here, all naval casualties called Nelson are listed there.

    You can also do a more detailed search here than possible on the CWGC website

    It's quite possible that the name has been recorded incorrectly, it does happen.

    If you find that he did die during WWII and not recorded by the CWGC (it does happen) then you can request recognition as a war casualty through here.

    Re Above HMS Lord Stamp
    W A Nelson LT/X21019A 14th Oct 1940
    The Lord Stamp was a trawler converted as an Anti-Sub craft lost in Lyme bay

    the only other two Nelsons that might be him are

    William Nelson P/JX363050. HMS Fidelity (P57) lost mid Atlantic 30th Dec 1942. She was an SSV (Special service vessel) Attacked by 3 U Boats the 225, 615 and Sunk by U 435. of the 379 crew only 10 servived.

    The only Sub sunk that year with a Nelson in the crew was HMS Traveller
    Thou this Nelson was a Louis his No was D/JX238548 lost to a mine(?) of the coast of Spain some time between the 4th-12th Dec 1942
