On the occasion oh 66th anniversary of Warsaw Uprising I enclose the link to some unique pictures showing the fight of the Polish Underground Army and the tragedy of the city that lost more than 200 000 inhabitants and was completely ruined by the Germans
Interesting and sad, too. Thanks.
Stalin and Hitler both came out of it smiling- Hitler crushed the Polish uprising and Stalin, by deliberately withholding his armies not too far away, the slain Polish resistance would not be able to fight his own troops when they took over?
As to Stalin - there are still some doubts if he was entirely successful. Some historians claim that if the Warsaw Uprising hadn't started Poland would have been incorporated into the USSR as the 17th Republic.
Laura988,
Thanks for the nudge. I don't think the Warsaw uprising made much impression on Stalin's mind other than make his brutal subjugation of Poland a little easier(in a military sense).
