Hi, I am trying to find any information on WW1 veteran Private George Ernest Hibble 45385, K.R. Rif.C. I have his medal card, but have been unable to find out anything else. He returned from the war safely, but like many other old soldiers, never discussed where he had been. Any help much appreciated. Rokeby

Rokeby, on your index card there will be a code (possibly two but from his number he seems quite a late recruit and the two only comes for men who served overseas before 1916). This tells you which medal roll he is entered into. That will tell you his battalion. From there you can figure out where he went. The rolls are not online; they are held at the National Archives in Kew.
