Please i need no I really want to find out my fathers military details. He was I am led to believe in the Royal Artillery 2nd world war. I was also told he was stationed in Gibralta. I have no other details about his military service. I am one of three siblins and the only one who is interested in family history. My father died just after my mother in the mid 70s. I have his birth, marriages and death certificates. i have my birth and marriage which has his name on them.
I was given a document which i need to fill in with his regt number etc so i can obtain his military details. I dont have them so i cannot obtain them how frustrating is this.
Twelve years of research and this is my last hurdle any ideas much appreciated.

Susan,
you could try the national achives office in Kew, they will be very helpful you will need date of birth Etc: Also there is an army records office in Glasgow I think its Kintergern House, I did have the address but have passed it on to another. Or you could ring the RBL HQ in London who will put you on the right track.
Hope thats of some help.

if you still have his medals they may have his name and service number engraved on the edge.
Failing that any old letters may have them or on the reverse of old photos.
Susan,
As far as I know all you have to do is fill in a
request, I think its called a varification of service form then all details will be provided by Kew N.A. service.
Its fairly simple.
Wilf
It's the Army Personnel Centre at Kentigern House:
