We salute the fallen from all nations that were wasted by vain-glorious leaders of WWI - men that fought WWI who couldn't vote, couldn't be heard and were sold out by leaders both political and military - but for their leaders pride maybe the 20th century wouldn't have been home to 2 devastating wars and countless genocidal events.

I fear, stalteriisok, that WW1 would not have been avoided. One just needs to look at the photos and read letters and diaries to see the hubris that affected all sides in August 1914.

yes u are correct - but at the start - 1914 was still the hatred of the hun bit
the xmas truce was between troops who had fought and died and served in the mud - they were in the "whats it all about " mode
