My grandad, Harry Skinner, was captured by the Germans in N.Africa and handed over to Italian troops as a POW. He ended up in a forced-labour camp in Czechoslovakia and was liberated by the Red Army. He was in the Nortamptonhire regiment, but that's about all I know.
Any other info would b appreciated.
Hello Kev, As was pointed out to me, the International Committee of the Red Cross will undertake a search for POWs if requested. You can find the web-site quite easily. I have not done so, as I am not sure what further(to what I already know)information they would provide.
Best Wishes, germinator.
Thanks, germinator. I hadn't even thought of the Red Cross.
Cheers,kev.
