Are there any members out there, who were on board any of the ships below, in the royal Navy,or have relatives that served in 1939-1945, during the meditterrean campaign. My father now has passed away but remember stories from his service in WW2. I have yet to obtain his service records, but in the meantime would love to hear from anyone, who may have served with him?

Charlie Dabbs - Born 1923 ( Birmingham) - Petty officer.
Served in the med, north africa, malta, to name a few.
I can remember a few of the ships he served on:
    Cairo
    Ariadne
    Indomitable

    BB,

Couple of sites might be of interest,

Ariadne was a minelayer. This was a type the Americans were short of, and Ariadne was seconded to the US Pacific Fleet. After some minelaying work she was used as a fast transport for US Rangers and was at the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
