I am currently doing a module at college that involves putting together a documentary, I have chosen to do this documentary on World War II RAF veterans and their experiences during their time serving Britain, I am on here asking if anyone knows how I might find people that would be happy to discuss their time.
This is strictly un professional, it is an amateur film and will not be displayed publicly for profit.
thanks
Josh.
Hi Josh
Best bet is to contact some of the flying museums such as RAF Cosford, Museum of Army Flying, Fleet Air Arm etc and have a word with them. You may even be able to use some of their own audio material from their archives.
Prehaps look at the home front during WW2. Singling out pilots might be a bit tricky if you have a deadline. Most elderly people in your local community or family have recollections of the war years, so maybe look at a different area if your not successful.
Good luck
Try RAF Museum Hendon.
They have good research staff and an excellent archive.
Depends where you live / are studying but your local British Legion and Royal Air Force Association would seem a good place to start asking.
If there are any old RAF airfields in the area then have a look around to see if there any organisations associated with them, many RAF squadrons have associations of ex members. Some of their members could have settled in the area.
