Cld someone please tell me how I go about to find what happened to a distant German male relative and his family resident in UK betwqeen 1914 and 1918. The head of household is a widower in 1911 but no sign of his wifeΒ΄s death in indexes. If she died in Germany prior to 1911, where do I find details. Thank you.
There may be some reference in the 'Aliens' files (series HO 405 at The National Archives (TNA), Kew) as well as in other HO (Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Office) records at TNA. TNA have an online catalogue which you can just put the name into and search.
tks will have a look
Not familiar with German records but Cyndi's List is the best starting off point for seeing what is available for different countries.

tks. Much appreciated. Had a look on TNA but will have to visit there later in year. the Redwood family lived in Acton 1911. Father, Widower, was a tailor. IΒ΄d like to find out what became of him during WW1 years. His son marries my gm.
A lot of Germans were interned on the Isle of Man (in both world wars). You might get some useful leads from this page:
cheers, Mike
