Wardogs

  Wardogs have been used in many theatres of war, especially to detect people, explosives and other items.
  
  IEDs seem to be the major killers of British soldiers in Afghanistan and such weapons are detectable by wardogs.
  
  Does the British Army deploy wardogs in Afghanistan?

  what about the ww2 russian war dogs
  
  they were trained to search for food underneath tractors and tanks
  
  they then had explosives strapped to their body to be detonated by a large lever protruding from the top of their back
  
  they were then pointed at german tanks - of they went to get food and boom - awful

  I also heard that the Germans had trained killer dogs around the death camps. And also the Russians had killer dogs. I heard stories that the British also used killer dogs as well, as this been proven?

  If you are 'into' dogs in war try Jilly Cooper's excellent and well-ilustrated "Animals at War".
  
  There were even medals for the brave ones...

  Yes, both as patrol dogs (guarding, bringing down fleeing suspects etc) and sniffer dogs for drugs, explosives etc. As it happens, I saw both types being demonstrated on Saturday. The former was a Belgian Shepherd, the latter some sort of spaniel, I think. They are under the jurisdiction of the Military Working Dog Support Unit.
