Evening Chaps and Ladies,
How would I found out about the ships my girlfiends grandfather served on? He didnt die in service (he died in 1976 well after leaving the RN),but I assume that somewhere his service record would exist.
Many thanks
VF
It depends on when he left the Royal Navy.
The National Archives (TNA), Kew, has some records online (known as Documents online). If they are of a later date then the Royal Navy will still have them, but one of TNA's online leaflets will have the address to contact. In both cases the ships he served on should be listed and the ship logbooks should at TNA.
Cheers for that!
Regards Vf
VF,
an alternative if you have no luck with the NA
