Papers unearthed by the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ reveal that British and American commanders ensured that the liberation of Paris on 25 August 1944 was seen as a "whites only" victory.

Did the 2nd Armored Division (France) have any West African troops?

    Haesten,

thank you very much for this link. I read it with great interest. Yes, apart from the historical evidence, it seems all quite let's say: "normal in that time". Interesting stuff also about the moral of the troops in Normandy.

I came on the high content of Senegalese in the French colonial troops when discussing on a French message board together with others against a PΓ©tainist about the numbers of soldiers during the different episodes of the Free French army starting with the 2,000 in London and culminating after Operation Torch with the mixing of Free French and Vichy Colonial troops.

Rather sadly the French forum is dying in my opinion while all my former friends quit due to I suppose the PΓ©tainist, who persists by saying always the same. And there weren't that many "active" contributors: only my friends and I. The "master" of the forum is perhaps too "neutral " to the PΓ©tainist?

    Warm regards,

    Paul.
