I am looking for any info any Royal Artillery memebers who served as maritime gunners. They would have manned oerlikons and Bofors (4omm LAA)guns on Naval or merchant ships.I believe that my father was Maritime gunner poss in the North sea as he was sationed at Scapa Flow . Anyone out there have any knowledge or info on wher to look . Thanks smisb24
I don't like to see a message with no reponse.
If you have his army number you could apply for his service record. However, that may tell you very little.

If he was at Scapa, he was more probably in a Royal Artillery AA unit ashore - the Army was responsible for Air defence of naval bases. If he had been a Maritme Gunner, he would more likely have been based in one of the merchantile ports.
Agree with poster above that best bet would be to pursue his records through his service number. Alternatively, the Royal Artillery Museum should be able to help with details of the units at Scapa.
Smisb24,
You could try the army veterans office. For Β£30, you'll get a copy of your father's service record.
