My father served in the Royal Engineers in WW2, he served in the 3rd Inf Division and he was at Dunkirk in 1940 and evacuated to England in late May 1940.
Can anybody help me to track the field engineer companies that were in the 3rd Inf Division, I have his service number, but no other details, I would like to know what company he served in and the company,s history with the BEF

The RE Companies in 3 Div in 1940 were:

17 (replaced 248 in Nov 39), 246 and 253 Field Coys. The Field Park Company was 15 Coy.

The RE Museum can probably steer you at war diaries and histories for those units.
