I am currently working my way through these books, they are a decent read, I know they are claimed to be a semi autobiography.
But I have also read that there is a lot of despute over him & his stories.
Has anyone else read them & do you believe them?
Kaiser
IΒ΄ve read them many years ago and liked them then.
The only one I currently can reread is the first one"the Legion of the damed" wich spaned the whole war can be semi autobiograph at least in parts the rest are certainly not.
Sven Hassel claims he was figthing for the germans,a thing that has been disputed in danish papers.
Hasse
I also have a number of Sven Hassel books. I enjoy them, and give a graphic description of the Wehrmacht. But, he writes about almost every front that German soldiers found themselves. It would seem highly improbable that German units were moved around so much. ( I don't know - perhaps they were). Also the amount of trouble they caused and their ill-discipline surely would have got some of them killed or imprisoned (penal battalion or no.)

That happened but the rest
