Shot at dawn

    A few years ago Tony Blair gave in and pardoned those shot at dawn. Did this pardon include those shot not for cowardice (such as murder or rape)? I can't remember it explicitly stated at the time.

    No. It only applied to those executed for military crimes (desertion, casting away arms, mutiny). It did not apply to those executed for capital crimes that were also capital crimes in civilian law.

    Nor were the people who were convicted of desertion, but not executed (the vast majority) pardoned.

    The individuals who were posthumously pardoned were pardon by name, but I don't know where it was published. You could try the Shot At Dawn site.
