Good morning,
We'd like to apologise for the disruption to a number of Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔs online services yesterday.
The technical issues experienced were caused by network issues across data centres in Docklands.
Areas affected were the message boards and community sites and the Single Sign On registration system, as well as search, iPlayer, radio streams and a number of database applications. The Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ homepage was also affected; visitors to the front page experienced a slow service.
We'd like to apologise for any inconvience and disruption caused. Normal service was resumed just before midnight last night.
Cheers
Andrew

Why don't you set it up to show the potter's wheel when there are problems?
That probably reveals more than you need to know about my age

Hi there Urnungal,
My parents speak of the potter with some affection. However seeing an old boy pedalling a wheel when the servers are slow may be seen as a comment on what's powering the internet!
Cheers
Andrew

As said on the other site. Thought you hadn't paid your licence.

Rarely, just rarely, the Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ would drop the potter and show a clip called "London to Brighton in 4 minutes". Anyone remember it?
It's been calculated that the train from which the film was made (at two frames per second), should it have been travelling really at the shown speed, would have been in excess of 700mph. Is it any wonder the 60s produced a load of speed junkies (in every sense)?
Great stuff though!
(the film ... not the speed, if you know what I mean)

In one of my earlier incarnations, I worked in a Standards Lab, in a company producing klystrons, magnetrons et al. We had to have a TV switched on all day to see if we were producing RF interference. I must have half-seen (without taking any notice of) "Evoluon" a few thousand times. Anyone else remember the "Senster"?

As a fan of Captain Scarlet I have to say I'm well impressed! You didn't by any chance also produce any of Gerry Anderson's other famous villains - like the Mysterons and those fishy things from Stingray?
Cheers,
RF

There was one guy who strongly reminded the rest of us of Mitch, but that's all.

He got around, that guy. I worked with him in the late 70s. He had a mate called Mike, who couldn't understand why he picked up the nickname "Mercury" when he was in his pal's presence at the bar of an evening.

Hmm. I'm off to the bar for a Beaker or two.
