Crew of HMS Monmouth during great war

  I'm trying to find out what became of my great uncle David Murphy. He served on board the HMS Monmouth in 1913 and was posted to China. He was a stoker and diver. I know this ship sunk during a great battle but I don't know if he was lost on her or was he posted to another ship just before the war. Can anyone help me to find the crew list of the sailors and crew who went down with her. Thanks..

  Joxer,<BR /><BR />If he was aboard HMS Monmouth, he would have been killed at the Battle of Coronel on 1st November 1914. Monmouth sank with no survivors.<BR /><BR />I've found a Daniel Murphy who was on Monmouth at the cwgc site,but he's listed as a sailmakers mate.<BR /><LINK href="http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3045246"">http://www.cwgc.org/search/casualty_details.aspx?casualty=3045246"</LINK><BR /><BR /><BR />Trike.<BR /><BR />

  Monmouth was in reserve just prior to the war, and was recommissioned with a crew largely consisting of reservists. There is at least a good chance that your relative would have left her when she was reduced to reserve and thus avoided the battle of Coronel where she was sunk.
