An ancestor of my wife was a soldier in "Major Kingston's Levy". A search of the internet only reveals one reference to this - it gives the name of another soldier who served in it. There appears to be a total lack of information as to what it was.
However, I seem to recall that it was mentioned in one of the programmes in the first series of "Who do you think you are?". I think it refers to an army (levy) formed by a Major Kingston without the prior authority of the King. And was either in Ireland or America. It was formed sometime in the late 1790s.
Any information would be most appreciated.
