Can anyone tell me if the following details are of the same person.

    Private Stanly John Archer 331065
    5th Reserve Battalion. Lancashire Fusiliers.
    Died Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ 07/11/18. Formerly 10551 Hertfordshire Regt.

    Cadet Archer S J 331065
Unit no.9 Cadet Wing Royal Air Force
Died 07/11/18 Husband of ADL Watson (formerly Archer)

Your help would be very much appreciated.

My understanding is that the British Army in WW1 used Regimental Numbers and therefore a soldier's number wasn't necessarily unique and could change if they moved between units. The details do look too similar to be coincidence though.

At first glance I would have said that they were the same person, but as the other poster mentioned the point about the regimental numbers.

Also if they were the same person the detail about the wife would be present on both

    pooh,

Have you got any info on the D.o.B and the home address of the men concerned?

That could be another pointer in the right direction.

Yes, I have got all the family history, However there are big diferences from what I have been told & what I have found out myself. At first I was led to believe that all the family were gassed & only my granddad returned from France, having done my own research this has proved to be wrong, not only were they all in different regiments they were all in different places, I have visited all the graves in France, & having no luck finding the 3rd grave contacted the CWGC again, this time they gave me the second information, which has thrown up the Royal flying corps & a wife which, if this is correct will be news to everyone. The first info I printed from the CWGC site about 3 years ago, the second info was last week, I know they have recently updated the site but would they have found new information to add to persons listed.
