With the USA following a policy of containment towards the USSR/communism, did China need to be contained?
Especially after the Sino-Soviet split, did it want to exand its influence? I know there were wars with India and Vietnam (and in Korea vs the USA) but they were hardly expansionist were they?
More borders issues than trying to spread their influence.
