Hello, I recently found out that my grandfather (Lieutenant Charles Scott) was in charge of running Sherborne Castle in Dorset some time after 1941 when it had been taken over by the War Office & used as some kind of staging post for soldiers on their way to North Africa. Does anyone have more details of this such as what were the soldiers doing there (was it r&r before conflict or training of some sort). How long was the castle requisitioned for? Are there any accounts of life there at this time?

Thank you, it'd be nice to get a clearer picture of what grandpa's army life was like after his stint training army convoy drivers in Wales.
