I'm having some trouble understanding this.
What exactly was it? I've read about it, but I'm not clear, as far as I understand it's "peaceful competition". But is this correct? How did it increase tensions if it removed war? Was it a more political and economic theory than military?
A stronger desire by the Amercians and the Russians to get on with one another - larlgely brought on by fear of the H bomb -1952. It was, as most of the Cold War was, more abput appearing to be getting on - the nuclear race was still as furious as ever.
