    Hi all,

If you've seen the news last couple of days you will have probably heard that Abu Ghraib is closing as a US detention centre and being handed over to the Iraqi Interior Ministries Prison Dept.

However the US are opening a new detention facility in Iraq called "Camp somethingorother (I forget at this momment)".

Do you think baring in mind Iraq has a democratic government and we are no longer "occupying" Iraq that we should NOT be opening or operating any prisons/detention centres/hightened interrogation facilities? Surely this is a job for the Iraqi's only and information should be given by the Iraqi's to the allies and that's it?

My read on the situ. is that we are now only there to support the Iraqi's as necessary and arrest people at their behest (not our own) as Iraqi justice is primary in the theatre.

I'm not trying to get our troops in bother for cuffing an Iraqi kid round the ear (so don't get me wrong on this) but like in N.I. where we offered support to the RUC/PSNI and that's what we should do in Iraq - no more and no less.
