  I've recently been thinking about a career in the forces, preferrably in the Army, although the RAF isn't exactly a bad option lol.
  
  I've been to an army careers office, and gotten the usual positive slant they throw on things. I've noticed there appears to be quite a few ex-servicemen on here, would just like to know about their experiences and if it was worth doing and basically if they would reccommend the life or not. And why?

  I'd say go for it, but ultimately the choice is yours.
  
  Look out for DL & Mani on these boards. They can give you some first hand real valid opinions when it comes to things military. They're both ex squaddies and I'm sure they'd be happy to give advice. There are others too, I'm sure you'll get a wealth of opinion.
  
  If you're looking for an old sweat who's seen some WWII action in Normandy, try PegasusEddie. There's not much he can't tell you about the Normandy campaign.
  
  If you want my opinion, after your basic training get ready for long periods of boredom broken up by occasional short spells of excitement. But who knows. You could end up anywhere. It is what you make of it, but your doing the right thing getting some opinions first.

  id join the forces too (it had infact been the only ambition ive ever had) but a carcrash ended that hope
