In 1943 my father joined the Royal Naval Patrol Service - he served on motor minesweeper 311 and spent some time at Scapa Flow. He also spent time on HMS Gairsay which I believe was eventually sunk (my father was not on this ship at that time) and HMS Kingston Peridot which was a minesweeper sweeping for magnetic and acoustic mines. He left the Navy in 1947. I am looking for any information on any of these ships and or Royal Naval Patrol Service during those years.

There is a RNPS Association and a number of web sites about the RNPS.
