By 'nobility' I think you are referring to the titled supporters of King Charles I? Most of the men were of course in the Royalist army and provided men and much financial support during the Civil War. Many died for their cause. The women folk of the nobility stayed 'at home' and defended their properties the best they could, but some had their lands and property confiscated by the Parliamentarians, they were hardly in a position to argue. Other members of the nobility, fled the country with the heir to the throne, Charles II, and relied on the hospitality of foreign monarchs, or, they simply wandered disinherited throughout Europe. However, some members of the nobilty, remained in England and did not declare alleigiance to either side so that their lands and fortunes were not forfeited. Hope this helps!
