HMS Golden Hind - Sydney Australia
I am researching my Grandad's movements during WW2. I know he was an administrator based at the HMS Golden Hind - Sydney Australia. This place was a 'holding/depository/barracks?' just outside Sydney.
Anyone know more about this place. If so please let me know on here.
It was a miltary camp at the Warwick Farm Racecourse, on the edge of Sydney
The racecourse is now administered by the Australian Jockey Club, but you might get more information through the Australian War Memorial in Canberra
Thanks Wollemi.
I knew that the base was at the Warwick Farm Racecourse, but it is good to know that someone else knew this too. Thanks
Does anyone know how I would get information about RNVR officers working there. As my Grandad was part of the RNVR, and seemed to be in Australia throughout most of WW2.
It sounds like you want specific Navy information so I'm not sure this aids your search, but the local museum is currently running an exhibition on the history of Warwick Farm Racecourse. Perhaps the museum might have some wartime photos, memorabilia, records....which might interest
