Hi all,
I was wondering if anyone could possiably tell me where i could find a bit more about the motor fuel rationing books please as i found one in my grandfathers house just recently as we started sorting though old boxes. It is of a great interest to me and any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
Watch out! If it's a book of petrol coupons, these were issued at the time of Suez, and again in the 70s, so they could be nowt to do with the war, if that's what you were thinking.
Got a book of 1973 petrol coupons. Issued during one of thoses mid east flare ups.

Ok thanks i would just like to find out more about this motor fuel rationing book, the hardest thing is that there is no writing on it to indecate a date or year so im just guessing at the moment. as i said above it is a great interest to me and being a GCSE History student it is even more special to me.
Thanks.
I suppose you could try the Imperal War Museum (But don't hold your breath) I tried a few times, but went round in circles) Or the Public Records Office. Or even the Dept. of Transport. Or, depending on where you are, your local Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ radio station. We have one up here. Βι¶ΉΤΌΕΔ Radio Merseyside, that have something called the A Team. They put out appeals for info, or help, or courses that people may find interesting. Can't hurt to find out.
Not sure if this helps. My parents married right after the second world war, and they definitely had to ration the amount of petrol they could use. But I have no idea what the amount was.
This is really a question for everyone's gran/granpa! They'll know it off the tops of their grey heads....
Eliza.
