Any offers on the route flown Canada/Uk by the A. T. C. pilots delivering aircraft. I know it was Canada Greenland IceLand Scotland, but does anybody know from where to where to where.
Fred
Last point in Canada either Gander or Goose Bay, Greenland I only know the bases were codenamed "Bluie West One, Bluie 5" etc. Ernest K Gann wrote about his experiences on this route - if I can dig out the title, I'll post it for you. From memory "Fateis the hunter" but don't rely on that.
Good Luck!
Thanks for that, it gives me a starting point. I think at this end, they finished at Preswick

Fred,
I recall reading about one American Pilot landing from overseas into some place in Scotland. The weather of course was appalling. He got on the radio to the RAF air base and asked clearance to land. The air traffic controller was Scottish with a very thick accent and the Yank had not a clue what the guy was saying. Anyway he managed to land in the fog safely. He found out later the Scottish Air Traffic Controller was telling him the base was closed because of the weather.
Cheers.
I could go with that.
Fred
